  Basketweave Vest                                          Basketweave Vest

Description: Slip stitch (and mosaic) patterns make working with color easy - you work with only 1 color per row. The basketweave mosaic pattern used for this vest is deceptively simple to work - it’s one of those “get a lot of bang for your buck” patterns. (That means the end result looks incredibly complicated, but in reality is easy to work. This allows you to blush appropriately when your friends marvel at your knitting prowess.) The sweater is worked in one piece from side-to-side, with an I-cord trim worked 3 times around the perimeter of the vest. The shoulder seam (which is the only seam in the vest) sports an I-cord worked in conjunction with the 3-needle bind off. The pattern includes neck and armhole shaping charts for each size, and detailed instructions on how to work the different I-cords used in the vest.

Finished Chest Sizes: 38 (41 1/4, 45 1/2, 49 1/4, 53 1/2)"

Gauge: 21 1/4 sts and 40 1/2 rows/4" over basketweave mosaic stitch pattern using size US 7/4.5 mm needles

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM LACE SHAWL

Description: Beads are used as an accent on this shawl – they are on the bottom border, center pattern, and top portions of the design. The shawl is worked from the bottom up…..so, you will start by casting on stitches for the entire shawl. The bad news – you have to cast on 439 stitches to begin. The good news – after the edging, the stitches decrease fairly rapidly so that as the excitement of working on a new project decreases, so do the number of stitches (at the rate of 4 stitches every other row). More good news – you will be working the bottom border and side edges (which actually become the top edge when the shawl is completed) along with the body of the shawl. So, when you complete the final row of knitting, the only thing left to do (in addition to blocking it, of course) is to graft (or 3-needle bind off) the remaining 24 stitches.

Finished Size: 76” wide (tip to tip) x 36” long (measured along center pattern)

Gauge: 1 repeat of the edging pattern measures approximately 3” wide (point to point after blocking) and 5” long (34 rows to the tip of the scallop) using size US 4/3.5 mm needles

Yarn Requirement: Lace weight (#0); 1200 yds

Yarn Used in Sample: Zephyr (50% wool/50% silk) in a custom colorway

Price: $15.00 VIEW SHAWL
